Working principle
The Biofilm system is an electrochemical biofilm activity monitoring system, where the probe is positioned within a flow cell, functioning as a side stream of the cooling water system.
The probe consist of stacks of stainless steel or titanium ring electrodes, separated by a non-conductive resin. Multiple times throughout the day, an external power source polarizes the probe, creating ideal conditions for microorganisms to settle and biofilm to develop. Deviations of the signal from the baseline values provide an indication of microbial fouling and biofilm formation.
